20170712 Pouring Our Driveway

(If you are new to this blog, please start at the beginning and follow the "next" link at the bottom of each post.)

Today they poured the concrete for our new driveway. I took a video of them doing some high speed mixing before they start filling the two powered wheelbarrows, but I'll skip that since we have already seen high drum speeds when the M&M site was running a concrete pump.
7:06:32am "I don't know why this video it is out of focus, but that does preserve privacy. The video still records the speed of the drum, the concrete flow, and the wheelbarrows."

7:09:14  The first wheelbarrow is back for another load.
7:23:30  "They soon have an "assembly line" of dumping, spreading by shovel, screeding with a board, surface floating, and edge troweling."

7:28:16  The first truck has moved down the street, and they are using one of the wheelbarrows to catch the concrete being washed from the truck. You can see the cab of the second truck on the left that is being unloaded.
7:29:28  They rip open plastic bags and pour in an additive, then do an high-speed mix.
7:31:50  I believe he is done washing into the wheelbarrow
7:32:14  The wheelbarrow comes back down in the traffic lane.
7:32:16
7:32:46  "They put one of the power wheelbarrows under the chute of the concrete truck when it is being washed to keep the waste off the city street. They then dump the wheelbarrow in the part of the driveway that will be poured near the end."
(new window)

7:33:14  The first truck still hasn't left.
7:33:38  Another video of high speed mix. I make an aural comment that he was told to add "4," whatever that means.
7:34:44
7:37:14  I get back to the front of the house in time to catch when the first truck finally leaving.
7:38:30  I make another aural comment that they are now mixing in a "3." Also the wheelbarrow driver borrows the hose and wets the inside of the wheelbarrow.
7:41:38
7:58:54  They are cleaning the truck right in front of the house because this is going to be the last load for the day because rain is on the way.
11:04:42  They have pulled up form boards from the unpoured part of the driveway to create a scaffolding to hold the plastic up off the concrete.
11:05:44 It was not a false prediction. It did rain hard. Note that he is still floating the surface under the plastic.
1:46:44 So that is a wrap for the day.
